Setting the Scene for your Success

The environment you’re working in, will have a direct impact on how productive you are and how happy you are, so it’s important that you’re setting yourself up for success.

Have a think about what helps you to perform at your best, for me that includes considerations such as – plenty of light, somewhere quiet, getting the right temperature, and a comfortable, supportive desk chair.

There are lots of little touches that can make your office or working space feel more comfortable and enhance your productivity. If your office is too dark, it may be making you sleepy, something as simple as introducing more lighting (especially around this time of year) can make a significant difference to how motivated and productive you feel.

Buying some plants and flowers for the office can brighten it up and improve the oxygen quality in the room, again improving productivity.

Making sure that you have a comfortable desk chair, set up correctly, can alleviate the subtle drain of back pain and discomfort on your productivity.

All of these changes are small, but taking the time to make your office space both productive and comfortable, can make it a space that you want to spend time in, enjoy working from, and enables you to perform at your best.

This is an area that large corporates such as Google and Apple have spent thousands researching, creating the perfect working space for their employees to get the best out of them, but is something that many small businesses often overlook.

And these don’t have to be big or expensive changes.

I encourage you to have a think about what could be improved in your working space, and what small changes might make a big difference to your enjoyment and productivity during your working day.
