So What Exactly IS a Mastermind Group?
This evening I am heading off to host our first Mastermind Drinks evening, which I've organised as a warm-up evening for some of my clients who have already decided they want to be part of our Accelerate Mastermind Programme when it launches later this year, as a way for them to get to know each other, and to start reaping the benefits of being part of a mastermind group straight away.
In promoting our Accelerate Mastermind Programme however, I realised that many business owners aren't actually that sure on what a mastermind group really is, or what it does for its members, so I thought I'd write a quick post to explain it in a bit more detail.
Mastermind groups were formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich" (Amazing book - if you haven't read it, add it to your must-read list NOW!!) Hill says "No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible, intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind" aka the Master Mind. In essence they are designed to help you work through business challenges using the group for support, accountability and advice to accelerate your growth and development.
A similar analogy comes from Aristotle when he said that "the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts". In other words having 2 (or more) minds working together to find solutions to a problem/challenge you may be facing in your business will provide significantly greater solutions than if you were facing those problems alone.
A mastermind group offers a secure, confidential and supportive environment for you to discuss your business with a group of your peers and offers a combination of education, brainstorming and accountbility to massively accelerate your business performance and results. It's like having access to a board of directors, a success team and a peer advisory group and is a fantastic way to fast-track your business development.
Some of the benefits you should expect from a good mastermind group would be:
Support - you instantly gain a valueable and knowledgeable support network around you to "share your business journey"
Advice - you have access to a regular sounding board to discuss big decisions, challenges and problem-solve as things arise.
Networking and Collaboration - By building strong relationships with your group members you'll instantly build some strong referral partners and significantly extend your network.
Experience - Each member brings a different set of skills, background knowledge and experience to the group, as well as a fresh, new perspective to change the way you look at things.
HUGE RESULTS - any good mastermind group will automatically stretch your boundaries, make you think bigger, expect more and aim higher. It propels your thinking to a higher level.
So, if you've never tried a mastermind group before and you're looking to accelerate your business results this year I highly recommend it, I've been a part of them for my last 7 years in business and have seen awesome results in my own businesses. There are lots of mastermind groups available for you to choose from, and if you'd like more information about our Accelerate Mastermind Programme launching in April then just click here, send us a quick message and we'll send over full details.
